Subteam

Propulsion

Propulsion designs, manufactures, models, and tests SRT hybrid rocket engines and the tanks, plumbing, injectors, chambers, nozzles, and feed systems that make them work.

What the team does

Propulsion develops SRT’s hybrid rocket engines from analytical model through hardware test. Members work with oxidizer tanks, plumbing, valves, injectors, combustion chambers, fuel grains, nozzles, and pressurization systems while predicting thrust, burn time, mass flow, regression, and overall performance.

The subteam combines thermodynamics, fluids, combustion, CAD, machining, analysis, and test operations. Much of the learning happens by comparing predicted engine behavior with hydrostatic tests, cold flows, and static fires and then carrying those lessons into the next design revision.
